All you need to do to make the Rescue outdoor fly trap work is add water to the pouch and hang where it’ll catch flies. The pouch can also supposedly catch up to 20,000 flies and activates fast, within 2 to 5 hours. You might already get a few hundred flies within a few days.

The only downside is that it stinks pretty badly. On that note, you might get the best results by placing the fly trap away from human activity, preferably downwind. Some reviewers have suggested putting a jumbo-sized plastic bag over the bag when handling it if any of the stinky water inside splashes out.

  • THE GREAT OUTDOORS: Perfect for porches, garage, patios, gardens, stable, lawn, chicken coop, and any popular hotbeds for flying insects to keep them...

The Trappify Fly Stick is similar to a fly ribbon in that it attracts and traps flying insects both indoors and outdoors. You do need a little extra prep, though. You can add a little honey or syrup to the stick, and it gets to work trapping flies. If you hang the stick vertically with all sides exposed, and in the center of where you want to attract the most flies, it should work great.

The Fly Stick’s hard surface keeps it from sagging when it fills with bugs and works in all outdoor spaces. You might even take it along on your next camping trip. Some customers have even had success trapping wasps with the product.

No-Pest Strip from Hot Shot

Sale
Hot Shot No-Pest Strip, Pack of 1
  • KILLS: Kills flies, moths, cockroaches, silverfish, spiders and other insects as listed.
  • HANGING STRIP: Just hang up in garages, sheds, storage units, attics and crawl spaces occupied by people less than 4 hours per day.
  • CONTROLLED-RELEASE TECHNOLOGY: Simply remove from package to begin controlling action – keeps protecting for up to 4 months.

The Hot Shot No-Pest Strip uses a slowly-diffusing vapor to kill insects for up to 4 months in an enclosed space. Fortunately, the smell is undetectable to humans and supposedly kills common household insects, including flies, roaches, spiders, and moths on contact. Some people have found them helpful outdoors, but they work best when the vapor can gather in a closed-off area.

Keep in mind that you should only use the strip in areas that you won’t occupy for more than a few hours a day, like a garage, shed, or attic. If you’re not going to use the space for a long time, like several days, then the product is safe to use there.

One downside is that, while the product works well, it does require you to sweep up the bugs that the vapor kills. If you don’t mind a bit of extra work, the product should work well.

Fly Ribbons from PIC Raid

  • Bug Catcher: This indoor fly trap can be set up in any location where flies are a nuisance. The fly catcher can catch up to 100 flies per ribbon,...
  • Mosquito Trap: This gnat trap is long lasting and can be used anywhere in your house, barn, yard, garages, stables, porches or food areas.

You can use Raid‘s fly ribbons indoors and outdoors anywhere you need to catch flying insects, not just flies. The strips, which can last for up to 3 months, can only hold 100 flies, so keep an eye on them if you need to replace them quickly.

Unlike a fly trap bag, a fly ribbon takes a little more preparation. You’ll need to warm the tube in your hand to help remove the ribbon and remove the tube in a twirling motion. If you’re not careful, the ribbon can stick to itself and become challenging to use correctly.

However, the fact that there’s no odor after the ribbon fills up is a great bonus. It might leave a tough, sticky residue when you remove the strip, but its power to attract and hold flies makes it worth a purchase.

Raid prides itself on using odorless, insecticide-free ingredients in its traps for all flying insects. Their transparent window trap keeps flies from seeing the trap, and the window adhesive stays invisible while light and heat attract the flies. Each trap holds about 100 flies, and they’re easy to apply to your window.

The window trap isn’t the best trap if you don’t like seeing how many flies you’ve caught in plain sight. But it does a great job at tricking flies and keeping them stuck.

Fly Stick from Eliminator

The Eliminator Fly Stick combines the best features of a fly trap. It doesn’t emit unpleasant odors for humans, traps all sorts of insects besides flies, and you can place it wherever you have seen these insects. The tiny cup on the bottom holds honey or syrup, and the stick itself has flies printed on it to attract insects better.

The stick’s versatility is excellent, too, so you can just stick the product on a ledge or shelf or hang it wherever you need to.

Although the packaging says the adhesive lasts for several months, it usually only lasts 30 days or so. The stick itself is not that long, so it might need fast replacing if it catches many flies early.

Like all decent fly traps, the Trappify fruit fly trap uses a food-based lure to attract flies rather than poison or pesticide, and flies cannot escape once inside. The trap is handy if you need a trap that blends better with your indoor or outdoor decor and is safe to put near food. It also hides the flies once they’re inside so that you won’t have a nasty mass grave of flies sitting around.

The trap itself only lasts for 30 days or one month. It might take a few days to activate, which is slow by fly trap standards, but it should still do the trick okay.

Reusable Indoor Fly Trap from Rescue

No products found.

The Rescue Reusable Indoor Fly Trap comes with a liquid attractant to start catching flies right out of the box. The product claims that with more holes, plus a higher concentration of attractant in each bottle, it works faster than the leading trap. The attractant liquid only works for 30 days, but you can buy refills to continue reusing the traps.

The trap does seem to have a few problems. For one, the liquid does not smell the best, which might not be best for indoor use. Some people have tried using multiple traps in one place, but that doesn’t change how the attractant does not attract bugs. You might be better off using plain apple cider vinegar instead.

Alternatives

If you don’t have the time or money to go buying traps and repellent, you can always make some at home.

To make a container, you can use the bottom half of a water bottle, covered with plastic wrap with holes punched in it. You can set it on a shelf, or you can hang it wherever you need. Whatever repellant you use is up to you. All you need is an inch or so of water and whatever extra-sweet ingredient you like.

  • Sugar water
  • Honey water
  • Homemade apple cider vinegar
  • Rotten or overripe fruit, especially strawberries or bananas
  • Fresh animal manure
